Urban/Wildlife Conflict: Everyone loves wildlife, but few understand those in our midst

Open lecture with Patricia N. Olson.

Wildlife issues abound in our world: protecting birds from feral cats; managing prairie dog populations as lands are prepared for commercial development; preventing bears from entering city limits; protecting endangered species in water, land and air; optimizing the care of zoo animals; and more. This lecture will focus on both the emotional and scientific components that lead to management and regulatory changes – some good and some bad.

Examples will be given of communities that have embraced wildlife in their midst and turned conflict into economic gain. The utilization of data for tracking trends and making strategic decisions will also be discussed.

The lecture will be in English, and there will be free access.
