Carsten Daugbjerg is a political scientist and Professor of Agricultural and Food Policy. He was a Professor in the Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University (ANU) from 2013 to 2018 and is now an Honorary Professor at this institution and an Associate of the ANU Centre for European Studies. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Co-editor of the Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning. His research focuses on agricultural policy reform, agricultural trade negotiations in the World Trade Organization, public and private food standards in global trade, government interest group relations and environmental policy, focusing in particular on agri-environmental regulation, organic food policies and biofuels policy. His recent research addresses global food security policy and governance and private food standards. Theoretically, his research interest is comparative and global public policy with a particular interest in policy network and governance theories, historical institutionalism, ideational and policy paradigm theory, and policy instrument and policy design theory. He has published widely on these issues in leading international journals and academic books. He serves/has served as a member of the editorial boards of the leading policy journals Policy Sciences, Journal of European Public Policy, Policy and Society, Policy Studies and Policy Design and Practice. In 2017, he was a recipient of the ANU Vice Chancellor’s Award for Public Policy and Outreach.
