Aktuel forskning

My research focuses on group problem solving, strategizing and decision making in complex and uncertain situations particularly in the context of food production and distribution, environmental protection, and human health. I am interested in analysing the process of problem solving, strategizing and decision making, and the links to outcomes. I am particularly interested in how aspects of problem solving, strategizing and decision making evolve, and how such aspects lead to outcomes.

Processes of problem solving, strategizing and decision making I am interested in may involve the use of artefacts (e.g. models, flipcharts, post-it notes, documents, and PowerPoint) and facilitators (researchers or consultants), who manage the processes. The use of artefacts and facilitation enhance the processes and the achievement of outcomes. In case of artefact use and facilitation, I assess the effect of using artefacts and of facilitator’s behaviour on the quality of problem solving, strategizing and decision making, and the achievement of outcomes.

Impact cases:

- I have facilitated a model-supported intervention in KBHFF - a member-driven, non-profit local food community in Copenhagen, which led to the formulation and implementation of a new organizational structure within the community   

- I have carried out a qualitative study on the implementation of the strategy for public-private sector services at the Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. This study has led to changes in strategic decision making and actions at the top-managerial level, which are currently implemented in practice.
