Toolbox PhD course: Advanced Microeconomics
The Department of Food and Resource Economics is hosting a 5 ETCS Toolbox PhD course in Advanced Microeconomics- Theory and Applications running in the period from the 8th of January 2025 to the 15th of May.
The aim of the course is to increase the students' knowledge of microeconomic theory and to enable them to work independently with microeconomic theory and it’s application in their research.
Registration deadline: 15th of December 2024
The course consists of three parts;
1) Microeconomic theory. Initially we introduce selected theoretical topics within microeconomic theory by lectures that will introduce fundamental formalized mathematical economics,
2) Applying microeconomic theory. This part of the course will provide examples on how microeconomic theory can be applied and we will discuss how the theory might be limited by data availability,
3) Making your own foundation. The students will give presentations of their own applications of microeconomic theory including the planned work they want to do and the theoretical problems they should investigate. The presentations will be discussed by all participants.
The course targets students with a knowledge of microeconomic theory at an intermediate level. It is an advantage, but not a requirement, to have some experience with working with data and coding in either R, Stata or SAS.
