Green Consumption as Practice and Symbolic Distinction
Open online seminar with Kia Ditlevsen, Department of Food and Resource Economics.
About the seminar
Based on empirical results from the qualitative research project Food as Distinctions and Practice, I will present result about how ‘green consumption’ is incorporated into existing food practices and social distinctions among adults Danes in four different social positions. I will show how ‘green consumption’ is linked to privileged people’s patterns of consumption, whereas other groups in society may have more sustainable practices without labelling them as such.
