Grassroots Environmentalism, Waste Metabolism and Territorial Dynamics: The Case of the ‘Waste Wars’ of Campania

Salvatore Paolo De Rosa, independent researcher who did his PhD at Lund University, is visiting Jens Friis Lund, Professor of Political Ecology, at IFRO.

Salvatore Paolo De Rosa will give a seminar with the title: 'Grassroots Environmentalism, Waste Metabolism and Territorial Dynamics: The Case of the ‘Waste Wars’ of Campania'.

Salvatore Paolo De Rosa says:

“I will present an analytical framework for research on socio-environmental conflicts based on the integration of urban political ecology with two distinct approaches to territorialisation. Through this framework, I will then disentangle the layered spatial histories at the root of the waste “crises” and related conflicts in the region of Campania (Southern Italy), focusing on the making of waste metabolisms and on the drivers and strategies of grassroots environmental movements”
