Thorsten Treue, born November 12, 1963, specialises in socio-economic and political aspects of sustainable forest management in developing countries, in particular with relation to forestry sector management planning, decentralized forest management, timber trade, forest policy and Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). He has twenty years of experience in development research and teaching, three years of experience as long-term community forestry advisor in Nepal. Furthermore, he was Team leader on several short-term consultancies concerning forest management/policy in developing countries.
