Bio Economy

The Bioeconomy Group is integrated into the Section for Production, Markets and Policy at Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO).
The group conducts mainly applied research and advisory work within a broad range of Bioeconomy issues. Another important part of the activities is public sector advisory.

The R&D activities are mainly based on a sustainable value chain approach with main focus on food and feed but fibre and biomaterials are also included. The interaction of new technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability in primary production and processing like bio refineries are the basis for many activities.

The majority of the activities are interdisciplinary in cooperation with other faculties and research institutions as well as industries.
