Julia Elise Viktoria Wernersson

Ph.d. stipendiat

I am a PhD Fellow currently working on a PhD project that analyses livestock governance in the Kenyan drylands.

The project uses critical social theory to analyse practices of livestock keeping that inform identity and state subjectivity.

The empirical work focuses in part on livestock keeping practices surrounding livestock watering, feeding, breeding, disease management, and livestock exchange systems, as well as on practices of government officials, bureaucrats and politicians that influence the livestock keeping and thereby also identity and state subjectivity.

My background includes a Master in Global Studies, with a focus on sustainability, climate change adaptation, and global political economy, and a Bachelor in International Relations and Human Rights. Geographically, my research is currently centred on Kenya, although previous experience includes the analyses of phenomena in institutions such as the EU, UN and multi-level governance structures in Sweden.
