The agricultural and food dimension of the ongoing trade conflicts and tentative agreement between the US and China

Research output: Contribution to journalJournal articleResearch

This short paper provides a review of the agricultural dimension of the current US-China trade conflict and its tentative resolution, not only at the bilateral level, but also through the dispute settlement mechanism of the WTO. It then attempts to explain the underlying reasons behind these trade conflicts, both within the broad trade agenda of the US under the Trump administration but also in regard to the more specific domestic and trade policy pursued by China. The paper concludes with a discussion of the bilateral trade agreement between the two sides.
